Pre-planning a funeral

Pre-plan and Prepay

You may choose to prepay or pre-plan your funeral. This will allow your loved ones to gather and support one another, remember, and celebrate your life, without the responsibility of making difficult choices in very emotional circumstances.

You may know what you would like for your funeral, or you may wish to discuss options and plan the service. We have the information to help you to do so.

The ‘My Life, My Farewell’ booklet is available from Woolerton’s and has been developed through the wide collective experience of members of the Funeral Directors’ Association of New Zealand.

This very helpful booklet guides you through the personal information required by the Registrar-General of Births, Deaths, and Marriages. Having these details pre-filled will be of great assistance to those finalising your funeral arrangements. You can also record your preferences for your funeral arrangements, including things you might not want. There are prompts to assist you and there is space for any other special instructions you may have.

Do take the time to talk today to your family and your Funeral Director to create a meaningful farewell for you and your loved ones when you’re gone.

You may also choose to prepay your funeral.

The Funeral Trust is a prearranged funeral plan available through members of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand. Woolertons is a proud member of the Funeral Directors Association of NZ.

A prearranged funeral organised through The Funeral Trust is a way to pre-plan and prepay towards your funeral costs. The Trust has been established to assist you in making arrangements for your funeral, or the funeral of another person such as a family member.

The Funeral Trust is not an insurance policy. No health checks or personal questions are needed.

The plan operates under a Trust Deed that sets out the rules and conditions of the plan.

PRE-PAID FUNERALS

For many people, pre-planning and pre-paying a funeral may go hand in hand. At the time of pre-planning a funeral, you also have the option of pre-paying for it. This option provides peace of mind that money is set aside for the funeral and that this financial responsibility will not fall onto someone else.

We are able to recommend several secure providers who hold the funds in a trust until they are needed. Pre-paid funeral funds are not held by Woolertons’ Funeral Home.

Woolertons’ Funeral Homes endeavours to provide the funeral service that’s right for every individual. We can also provide support for grieving families and friends of loved ones. We’re here to help, so feel free to call us any time that you need us.

Pre-paying for all or part of your funeral service helps to relieve your family and loved ones of the financial responsibility of the funeral expenses. Pre-paid funerals up to $10,000 are currently excluded from asset testing (under government legislation) when assessing eligibility for a subsidy for long term residential care for the elderly.
